Agar Advisory works with two closely connected groups: growing life science companies, and the investors who support them.

Life science companies

We support ambitious organisations across the life sciences sector, including biotech and therapeutics; diagnostics; medical devices; digital health; and AI-enabled life science services and platforms.

The companies we work with typically range from Pre-Seed and Seed stage through to Series A and Series B. Scientifically, they range from early proof-of-concept through pre-clinical, clinical and early commercial stages.

Our work is particularly focused around two critical points in a company’s development.

The first raise

At the earliest funding stages, we help companies establish the core procurement and supply chain foundations required for sustainable growth. This includes ensuring that appropriate governance, supplier management processes and operational controls are in place from the outset.

The objective is not unnecessary bureaucracy. It is to help companies build scalable operational capability, manage external suppliers professionally and demonstrate to current and future investors that capital will be managed responsibly and effectively.

The second raise

As companies progress into larger funding rounds, third-party spending often increases rapidly in both scale and complexity. Supplier networks expand, outsourcing models become more sophisticated and operational risk increases accordingly.

At this stage, many organisations still lack the strategic procurement capability, operational processes and internal resources required to manage spending, suppliers and supply chain risk effectively.
